I weighed 265 pounds!
I was WAY to heavy for my height (5.9), and I was huffing and puffing climbing a short flight of stairs!

I had “Moobs” (man-boobs) and it was disgusting. The pants from back then now look like a tent to me. It was hard to tie my shoes and I got out of breath walking.

Girls would look at my chest/breast and probably compare sizes! One day an old friend of mine from England was over on visit: we were in the Blue Lagoon, a Thermal Spring Spa, and I was mocking him for not being as strong as me. He came back with: „Well, at least I don’t have Tit..“. and he just caught himself, shutting up. Hmmmm

It all started because the fitness industry told me to stuff myself stupid with food.

The whole problem started because the fitness industry was basically telling me that to get big (I was lifting weights) I had to bulk up, with examples of “natural“ bodybuilders eating between 4000 and 6000 calories per day! Ha! “Natural”, my BUTT!!!

But I didn’t know then … So I started stuffing myself (it was even difficult eating that much sometimes: dried prunes, chocolate cake, anything to get in those calories!) and gain weight I did… Fat Weight! Sure I got strong too, but I looked more like a Buddha than a fit athlete …

I initially had been lean, with a six pack and all … but that soon became history … Until I arrived at this huge weight, 120 kg or 265 pounds. I felt miserable and was in no shape at all. Look: I knew THAT’S not what I was training for! I wanted to look good and be in great condition, not a strong and yet super-fat slob! With breasts, for Pete’s sake!

And so my journey began … I guess I tried all the mainstream approaches in the book:

  • “Low Calorie Diet”? Sure, I lost fat … AND muscle mass! Then I panicked, bulked up, and …  you guessed it: fat again. Talk about the Jo-Jo Effect. Frustrating!
  • “Type of Food Diet”? Never went below 11-12% body fat with that.
  • “Separaton Diet”? Didn’t work, not for me.

I studied –and practiced– all kinds of diets, did all the fat burning training on the planet. And I got to about 12% on a pretty permanent basis, but never really below that, not without wasting muscle mass!

I even asked other performance coaches and people with degrees in nutrition and body composition I talked to all kinds of people, including my peers (other Performance Coaches), folks with impressive degrees and certificates for nutrition and weight-control, and it turned out… they didn’t know either! (they were fat, too!)

Nobody had a clue!
So it was up to me to find out for myself. Having used all these different approaches it was clear there must be something missing, some crucial element…  and not only as far as food, also for training, and maybe even for supplements?
